  NSP candidates ace it at Bichlbach, Austria Candidates worked on their OEC scenarios and received their initial exposure to operating the sled.  Brian Russo and Kristopher Klingler worked hard to prove they too can handle the the NSP rescue sledge..  Great work guys... !!!!!!!!!!!

The National Ski Patrol's International Division conducted its annual OEC Skill Competency Test

On December 2nd, the Stuttgart Chapter of the National Ski Patrol's International Division successfully qualified new patrol candidates' Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) skills. Five OEC patrol candidates met in Stuttgart, Germany on Saturday to have their newly-learned OEC skills evaluated.  The evaluation covered a variety of first-aid techniques, including airway management skills, splint and oxygen use, and spinal immobilization (pictured).  Candidates demonstrated these skills as part of a series of realistic role-play scenarios that presented an injured patient in need of first aid.  Candidates were required to identify the patient's primary complaint, gather their relevant history, and scan for potential secondary injuries all while they demonstrated key OEC first-aid techniques. The International Division of the National Ski Patrol completes Refresher Cycle 'A', for the 2023-24 season

The International Division of the National Ski Patrol completed their required annual refresher training from 18-19 November, 2023, in Hintertux, Austria. Over 30 members from across the globe gathered to refresh their First Aid, CPR, and on-the mountain skills over the 2-days session. On the first day, members cycled through multiple first aid refresher stations, including airway management and spinal immobilization (pictured).  On the second day, all the patrollers got their skis on - many for the first time this season - and took turns refreshing their alpine patroller skills both on the slopes and with the sled (also pictured).  The day the patrollers spent on the slopes had some challenging conditions, including high winds, steady precipitation and visibility that regularly dropped to zero.  Non-ideal weather conditions like these, while challenging, improve patroller proficiency by forcing patrollers to think farther ahead and rely more on their ...
